just been playing on it now, much better map, but the game still needs a huge amount of work, just feels so shit.

Not as many campers on this map but still alot. One plus point is destroying vehicles is much easier than in other bf titles.

As it stands now, Battlefield 3's beta is a wellspring of misinformation about what your final Battlefield 3 experience will be.


Gies played Battlefield 3 last week at EA's Final Hours press event in San Francisco. The build he played wasn't final, but close to it. Noting that the gun-play had been improved, it takes a bit more to kill someone. In the BF3 beta, enemies simply fell over in a shot or two which was CoD like. The actual game is more BC2 like (Geis notes that this is better and we agree). The series is known for having it's true infantry battles where it takes skill, not just who got the drop first. This was also the case in BC2, it would take more than a pistol shot or two to take someone out. If you were snuck up on, you would at least have a chance.

This minor tweak in gun-play and damage will have a noticeable, yet positive effect on gameplay. When getting shot at or sneaking around, you'll have just that split-second more to think out a strategy. Also adjusted was vehicle damage to be more fair. During the beta it would take multiple shots to destroy a tank, but in Battlefield 3, it's more balanced to be more like BF2's tank mechanics. Well placed shots in BF2 could take out a tank in two hits. Despite the unexpected changes, most of them will be welcomed in the final version of Battlefield 3.

you know I just get this grinding feeling that this game is going to be a massive letdown.

well all the main points are taken care for or so it seams.

what counts for the tanks is also for the choppers? couldnt take out a chopper with 2 stingers?

than 1 thing still remains and thats the anti cheats, can they keep out the fuckers of AA and other low life shit

anti cheat programs have let us down big time over the past few years.

im more worried about the server hackers then the aim botters and game hackers to tell you the truth because if the hackers are allowed to bring down servers again this game will die very quickly just like Homefront - and Modernwarfare 2.

all we can do now is wait and see how this turns out because I will still be getting the game but I fear that if this game turns out to be hacked and like the games of the past 2 years just no lastability I think it will end my online gaming for good because it is now beyond a joke and the games give us more to moan about then a fun team play lastable experience.

Thats not looking good for peeps with shitty names. It will cut down on the fags that change their names every 10min though.

vars.serverName controls the name of the server, as seen in the server browser.
vars.gamePassword - if set, players must enter this password when connecting to the server.
vars.friendlyFire – when set, people can inflict damage on others in the same team.
vars.killCam – when set, a killed player gets to see a close-up of his/hers killer for a few seconds.
vars.miniMap – when set, a minimap is available in the bottom-left corner of the screen during play.
vars.hud – when set, the hud is present.
vars.crossHair – when set, guns have crosshairs in the center of the screen.
vars.3dSpotting – when set, spotted targets are marked with icons in the 3D world.
vars.miniMapSpotting - when set, spotted targets are marked with icons on the minimap.
vars.3pCam - when set, 3rd person vehicle cameras are enabled.
vars.nameTag – when set, nametags are rendered over players’ heads in the 3D world.
vars.regenerateHealth – when set, health regeneration is enabled.
vars.vehicleSpawnAllowed – when set, vehicles will spawn in-game.
vars.vehicleSpawnDelay – controls the delay between vehicle spawn; specified in percent (100% = normal).
vars.soldierHealth – sets maximum soldier health, specified in percent (0-100%; 100% = normal).
vars.playerRespawnTime – controls player respawn delay; specified in percent (100% = normal).
vars.playerManDownTime - controls player man-down time; specified in percent (100% = normal).
vars.bulletDamage – controls bullet damage; specified in percent (0-100%; 100% = normal).
vars.onlySquadLeaderSpawn – when set, players can only spawn on the squad leader.
vars.roundStartPlayerCount – when the server is in pre-round, it waits for this many players to be present until it proceeds to start the real round.
vars.roundRestartPlayerCount – when a round is going, if the number of players drops under this number, the round will be aborted and the server moves back to pre-round.
