Running a completely free online service and continuing to host gamesthat are up to 10 years old makes it impossible to spend money on (a)reducing cheaters (b) making updates (c) having staff jump into gamesto monitor (c) improve bandwidth, reduce lag etc.

The features included in Gold membership will be expanded over thecoming months. I agree that Gold membership may not be for everyone, soif you choose not to get it that's fine. But now is the opportunity forpeople to lock-in their squad names.

In my eyes its a good idea to pay for a lag-free & cheater-free server, for more support and many many updates. But i dont think that it will work this way (Pay for being a gold member).
On the other hand it will be very difficult for clans/players, if not using the gold membership, to change the players name after leaving a squad .
